Over the week in Patagonia the landscapes were wonderful.

The race is organized by my Kiwanis Club and with amazing weather, great audience, and very enthusiastic runners and volunteers, the race raised $55,000 for Kiwanis projects.

It was a nice fun session in the studio with Tyson, who not only is a good model, he insisted in taking photos of his younger sister.

This is the 6th year that I have had the opportunity to visit Argentina in January, and like all the previous trips, this one was a blast for the friends and the photos.

I was out for a drive east of Ottawa with my friend Roger, looking for snow geese. No luck finding the geese, however some amazing sand hill cranes that just towered over the Canada geese in the same field made up for it. The flat light broke for a couple of minutes for some nice clouds.

I shot the wedding in Toronto along with my friend Shafiq. Even with some weather challenges, the wedding came off wonderfully.

It has been a while since I have done a wedding, and to make this one more interesting, it was for my neice. I had lots of help on this one from my friend Shafiq Shamji.

The sixth annual zombie walk through Ottawa ended at Parliament Hill with some amazing costumes and characters.

Each year the RA Photo Club runs a one day photo challenge in the fall. Members go to the same location, and have 24hours to take photos. Any member who wants to submit photos can, and then the same members vote on their favourite images. Here is my first cut at selecting 5 images.

On an incredibly warm day, a couple of polo matches for Polo for Learning provided a new photo opportunity with some nice shots. The best shots would have been from behind the goal, however not sure about the brakes on the ponies! Downloadable versions are available here.

A chance to shoot a series of models at the Carbide Mill in Gatineau Parc as they trashed a wedding dress in the water. Thanks to Mike Giovinazzo for organizing, and Clarisse, Brandi and Liisa for modelling.

A fishing trip to Camp Bonaventure in the Gaspe part of Quebec yielded some wonderful opportunities to enjoy and capture some nature shots as well.

The Purdon Orchid Conservatory features over 15,000 of these wild Showy Lady Slipper Orchids. A few hundred are viewable up close from a board walk that meanders through the conservatory. In previous years I have arrived before dawn to view the orchids and enjoyed the company of many misquitos. This year my schedule left me with a grey day, so I brought along some flash units with umbrellas, and tried some new techniques.

A wet weekend at the Sand Del Lee course, with some sun on the first day. I was trying for some neutral backgrounds and panning shots.

With a rainy weekend forecast, here was my try at some tulips. The wet spring slowed the blooms by a couple of weeks, and a broken finger meant shooting with one hand.

At the Ottawa Orchid Show photographers get a chance to get in early for shots on the Sunday morning, and here are my efforts (wish I had the tripod with me).

I was so impressed with this amazing display of nature that it was worth a fourth trip down to Cornwall for a view. With the kind permissions of some land owners we got a wonderful of the flock flying directly overhead that included a great look at a group of blue morphs together.

A third trip for snow geese near Cornwall. The majority of the flock had moved on, however still a few to be found.

I was so impressed with the first day, that I went back for a second look. Earlier in the day, and colder. The birds were amazing and inspiring.

I was tipped by my friend Jim Robertson that there were significant numbers of snow geese in the Cornwall area, and a trip down found tens of thousands of them migrating.

It started with an RA nature outing where the batteries were dead, the biggest full moon in 20 years, and some morning shots with frost.

Two days of shooting, 3,000 images, and trying to pick the best from there. Here is my first cut at it. More images are posted here.

A fund raising event for the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa, which takes place the first Saturday of Winterlude on Dows Lake.

When you are on a working sheep ranch, the gauchos' horses are a wonderful source of photos.

A fishing trip to Patagonian lodge located on a working farm. One day included a chance to observe the gauchos working with the cattle where yearling cattle are checked out and the males, become steers.

A week in Argentina with wildlife that is substantially different from what I am use to shooting. My first trip with the 7D and its autofocus made a great difference for the action shots.

From about 15,000 images for the year it is tough to pick my favourite shots.

The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa prepares food baskets for 150 families.

The annual scavenger hunt from the RA Photo Club provides an alphabetic list of 26 topics for photographers to interpret. This year, and interesting list, and some colder than normal weather.

The second half of the RA's Iron Butt Rally ended up in doors at Gord's model search competition.

This was my second shoot of a cyclocross event, and this time the course was a dry enough to keep the mud down. More photos are available on my Smugmug site for Group A and Group B.

A special performance from performers from past years at the Kiwanis Music Festival who have gone on to significant success.

Each the the RA Photo Club gets together at a location for one day of shooting, and members can submit up to 8 photos to be judged by members. I got a couple of hours in the early, then a couple of hours in the afternoon to get these images.

A second visit this year to Perce Rock, this time with young gannets that are in the last stages before learning to fly and feed themselves.

The variety of the topography, flora and fauna make this a wonderful country to visit.

With a drop that is twice the height of Niagara Falls, Virginia Falls on the South Nahanni River is a spectacular place to view, and to travel to.

One of the parts of the trip that I was most looking forward to was the hoodoos in Drumheller. No one told me that they were small. No one told me that they were on the west side of a hill. No one told me that the are got fog. The photos still worked out.

A model shoot for a fund raiser for the Ottawa Cancer Center where Angela Holmyard is running in the underwear affair to raise money for cancers below the waist.

A morning visit to a sunflower field turned up some interesting companions.

A group of British car enthusiasts get together once a year at Britannia Beach to show off the MG, Triumph, Rolls Royce and Lotus vehicles.

The air show was hosted by Vintage Wings of Canada.

An afternoon at a junkyard with a group of models and OPPN photographers with a chance to make some nice images. Very flat light, still lots of fun.

Bonaventure Island is part of the Bonaventure Island Park which is the largest migratory bird reserve in Canada. It provides a chance to get up close to the birds.

After a number of tries to shoot at Percé Rock off the coast of Percé QC were thwarted by fog, a chance this year to shoot it from the shore and boat.

These photos were taken over a couple of days at the Stoney Swamp Conservation area off Moodie Drive in Ottawa after a beaver dam break, and at Mud Lake near the Ottawa River during a flying insect hatch.

The Highlights concert for the 65th Annual Kiwanis Music Festival was a tough shoot with minimum stage lighting, that is always changing in color and intensity.

Within a week in early May 2010 the temperature went from 0°C overnight with frost, to almost 30°C in mid day. Some shots from Fletcher Gardens, the Larriault trail in the Gatineaus and Commissioners Park for Tulips.
